Lucia may have passed a week ago, but schools are still celebrating. Last night at a little concert put on by Isak’s class there was another Lucia procession. Sweden being the epitome of both gender equality and democracy the person to wear Sancta Lucia’s crown of candles ever year is usually voted in, and boys as well as girls, oddly enough, are sometimes included in the election, though more for fun than to make any politically correct statement. In Isak’s class rather than holding a vote, lots were drawn, and to our surprise (we knew nothing of this before the concert) Isak was chosen. This was of course much to the disgust of Hanna who has wanted to be chosen as Lucia for years and never succeeds. Here are Isak and Hanna in their Lucia clothes for 2010, but only Isak got to wear the Lucia crown!
