Passing the torch

“Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done!”

Yesterday there was a passing of the torch from the Anastasis to the Africa Mercy, now docked side by side in Monrovia, Liberia. Despite all the problems I have seen in Mercy Ships over the years that we have been involved, I can’t help but be excited about this new chapter in its history. What excited me most as I read the press release on the Mercy Ships website was how openly God is acknowledged as the one who has brought all this about. I am not sure who wrote the press release, but it sounds a little like Don Stephens himself. There is some video footage of the torch passing ceremony, with Don standing with the torch held high in triumph at the top of the Africa Mercy gangway.

The news item on Mercy Ships website is here, and there is a link to the video on the page.
